I love mascara. Love, love, love the stuff. It definitely makes it into the top three of my desert island beauty picks (sunscreen and lip balm in case you were wondering) and I get very excited about any new products. I've recently been playing with the brand new Volumizer mascara from Bourjois, and am very impressed. The mascara features TWO brushes to allow you to create two different looks, the idea being you go for subtle during the day and vamp it up at night.

Digging into our fall makeup box we're very excited about the Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Collection. Yes, yes, we were seduced by the beautiful image of Hilary Rhoda. But trying out a few of the colors has only improved our opinion.
"The blues and purples in the collection are iconic colors for autumn and winter," said Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director. "I like to give women choices in the way that they look. From a neutral to a smoky to a fashionable, strong look, these shades can be used with them all.
We review a couple things from each of the two color palettes after the jump.

When you write a lot about beauty, you become quite used to wishing that products and treatments really did what they were supposed to do. The vast majority don't, of course, and it gets a little disheartening when another product or treatment fails to deliver on its promises.
In the case of the 'brightening facial' I was recently treated to at The Sanctuary, however, quite the reverse was true: this was a treatment that just kept on giving. For days after my visit, I kept catching a glimpse of my skin in the mirror - looking absolutely radiant. It continued to feel soft and nourished too, and still feels better almost a week after my facial.
The treatment itself was relaxing and hugely enjoyable too, and it was wonderful to be back in the calming oasis of the famous Covent Garden spa. But for those who can't just book in for a facial on a whim, The Sanctuary has come up with a new product that's really quite genius: a 'facial in a box', featuring everything you need for your own DIY facial at home. Crucially, it includes all of the same products used in the spa's three most popular facial rituals: brightening, youth-boosting and deep cleanse. The kits cost just £16, which I think is an absolute bargain, and makes them highly giftable, too. All individual products are available individually too, including the truly magnificent Therapist's Secret facial oil. Almost as good as being there!

If I wasn't already excited about a new purple shadow for Fall '10 from NARS, I would be after seeing this beautiful image from the campaign. Francois Nars chose long-time friend Daphne Guinness to star in the ads, and they really turned out fabulous, don't you think?
Read on for more details on the products and campaign!

As we reported earlier this month, Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics to create a one-off makeup line. Now we've got the products in our hot little hands ready for review. The colors are everything you'd expect from the two camps.
"We wanted the makeup to be fun and playful; for me clothing and cosmetics should be whimsical, they should both make you smile and feel flirtatious," Bendet said.

I don't think I've ever described a beauty product as 'Proustian' before, but appropriately enough it's a French brand that's driven me to do so. Graine de Pastel, a range that's new to the UK but a huge hit across the Channel, is made using ingredients that are native to Southern France, and for anyone who's spent any time there, the scent will take you right back.
The key ingredient is Pastel or Woad; a flowering plant known for its blue tint. The seeds of the flowers are naturally high in Omega oils that work wonders for your skin condition and radiance. The products, which include a rich body moisturiser, luxury bath oil and room fragrance, are all made without parabens or other harmful chemicals.
Graine de Patel products are available now at Urban Retreat at Harrods and www.beautique.com

Cellulite creams trend to be really hit or miss with me. Logically I know that whatever the latest wonder cream promises that the effects will be temporary at best, and the scrooge in me rebels at the prices some of these products cost. Then I take a look in the mirror, and before you know it the credit card is out and I'm massaging away with fury. We all know that the main factor that makes cellulite creams work is the kneading action used to apply them- as this helps lymphatic drainage, but some creams work better than others. My one and true love in the cellulite cream world was a fabulous La Prairie product, sadly now discontinued, and since then I've been on the hunt or something that can give me softness, silkiness, firmness and smoothness in one bottle, hardly a tall order right?
JENEUVE Switzerland have recently released their Anti-Cellulite Pro Complex and I've been trialling it for a couple of weeks now. It arrived in a stylish square box, but is actually a tube rather than a bottle, which is good- as that means you'll be able to squeeze out every last drop.
