Barbie shares her love with New Look: So long to Stila and MAC!

barbie_lipgloss.jpg

The ubiquitous blonde has rarely put a foor wrong in the last fifty years. Despite practically sharing a birthday with Madonna, she remains equally line free and svelte, with her only concession to age being slightly widened eyes, and an ever changing variety of hairstyles. The doll has always symbolized energy, attractivness and sex, so a makeup line seems a natural transition. Previously we've seen two very high profile campaigns- the fab Barbie/MAC mash up of 2007 and the recent Stila set which combines products in gorgeously printed tins.

My colleague mentioned the fab eyelashes on offer, but I decided you guys would want to see even more.

A treat for your skin from the Just Desserts kitchen

just-desserts.jpgI have to admit that when it comes to the mythical desserts trolley, I'm far more excited by good old-fashioned puds covered in sticky toffee sauce and custard as I am in artfully-made cupcakes. Comfort food is always popular during times of economic slump, and I'm certainly not complaining about that!

But if you don't want to suffer the health effects of eating custard every day, you might want to try putting it on your body instead. 'Good enough to eat' body treats come and go, and I've tried some real shockers in my time (let us never speak again of Ann Summers chocolate body paint) but Just Desserts Body Custard is something else entirely. The scent is indistinguishable from the real thing (chocolate souffllé being our absolute fave) and provides a decadent sensory experience that helps you to relax as it comforts and treats the skin. The perfect ingredient for a girl's night in, each tub is just £2.99 from the Just Desserts kitchen.

All products available from Just Desserts

Estee Lauder Holiday 09.jpg

Even the most devoted pink lip gloss girl can get swayed by the perfect red lipstick come holiday. Estee Lauder's "Ultimate Red" lip products are inspired by the soft silk of a luxurious gown and come in Simply Red and Cranberry, or Gold and Blackberry for the less/more adventurous. (Depending on how you look at it.)

The collection features two main looks. They are each built around Limited Edition Signature Eye Shadow Quads, which contain shadows designed to make it easy to build and eye look from soft and subtle warmth to more dramatic, striking effects. The quads come in Gold Opulence and Lavish Plum. Gold opulence is complimented by Gold Opulent Shimmer Gloss and Pure Color Nail Lacquer. The Lavish Plum collection includes Cranberry gloss and Burgundy nail polish.

The collection launched this month in both the US and UK.

See photos of the two collections, as well as some of Estee Lauder's beautiful jeweled compacts, after the jump.

Lime Crime Cosmetics release Candyfuture collection

candyfuturead.jpg

Now I fully admit to being a beauty junkie, buying products for no other reason than they look sparkly and new, and often just because I find the packaging adorable. MAC, Urban Decay and Benefit have basically got a devotee for life out of me, but I can't believe I've never heard of Lime Crime cosmetics before.

They're a USA range of ultra bright lipsticks and shadows encased in adorable hot pink pots, with UNICORNS on them. Yes, that's right, they HAVE FLIPPING UNICORNS on them!! (OK, the Last Unicorn was one of my all-time favorite kids films ever).

Scarlett & Crimson gift sets available at Boots

scar1.jpg

Ruby & Millie have a very successful makeup range at Boots. However they have felt their products are aimed at the 16+ market, and decided it was time to give the younger girls more options than the 17 counter. They have named their tween range Scarlett & Crimson, and teamed up with the fiction books, to create products based around those characters. They've kept the ethos of rock music, butterflies and skulls alive in the packaging (all the basic elements of teen rebellion).

MAC holiday 09 collections hit stores

MAC holiday image 1.jpg

Ohhhh holiday, not only are you my favorite time of the year, you are my favorite makeup season. And I have been aesthetically binging on pictures from the MAC Cosmetics holiday collection all afternoon. MAC manages to really reinvent holiday every year, with a pleasingly festive color palette and suitably sparkly campaigns and packaging.

Shown above is the Magic, Mirth and Mischief Collection. It's meant to evoke "Unstuffy parties, impromptu rendezvous, the informal chic of Festive Fantasia or an intimate evening a deux."

More pictures and details of the collection after the jump!

Play at beauty with Sephora Monopoly

sephmono.jpg

I don't deny that I'm slightly makeup obsessed, but I wonder whether buying a Monopoly version of my favourite beauty store would be taking things a step to far. The board is adorned with lipsticks and cosmetics and certainly looks more attractive than the usual primary shades, but I think you'd find it difficult to get your male friends involved.

Sephoras collaboration with Monopoly has created a game that's every beauty junkies dream, as it caters to every known whim of the vain. Have a bad hair day? Get sent to jail without dry shampoo, and pay your way round the course in beauty bucks.
