Product Review: Farmhouse Fresh Whoopie Creme

FHF whoopie creme.jpg

I'm a big fan of Farmhouse Fresh, especially their Honey Heel Glaze, so I was excited to receive a sample of their Whoopie! Whipped White Velvet Shea Butter Body Creme. Like many of their products, a lot of it is about the delicious scent.

"A jarful of joy," CEO Shannon McLinden calls it. "It's reminiscent of the home baked Whoopie Pies made famous by farmers of yesterday who would shout with joy when they found the heavenly desserts in their lunch pails. We wanted every woman to be this excited about their go-to body cream."

I'm not sure if I'm THAT excited to slather it on, but it is a nice treat whenever I open the jar, which I think is the point.

Long term product trial: Philips Lumea IPL home hair removal treatment

Philips-Lumea.jpg

Hair removal is one of those constant annoyances, as no matter how regularly you shave/wax/epilate, those stubborn hairs seem to return almost instantly (at least in my case). The idea of laser hair removal thus seems really attractive to many people as it's one way to permanently reduce the amount of hair that you grow. Yes, that's right- REDUCE. Laser hair removal, whether at home or in the salon will lead to permanent reduction, not permanent removal. Everybody responds to treatment differently so some may find themselves bare for a long time, whilst others may just have to shave once a month or so.

There are a lot of devices on the market at present, but Philips have just created something they feel will blow their competitors' out of the water- entitled the Lumea. This has been in development for quite some time, as I first heard murmurs about it a year and half ago, but it has just been released as they wanted to perfect it.

So how does it work, and what can it do for you?

Product Review: Organic Surge Superintensive Daily Moisturiser

Organic Surge moisturiser.png
A key ingredient in this moisturiser is organic rose geranium oil, and depending on how scented you like your products this will either put you firmly in the fan or hater zone. The scent is light but distinctive as the notes waft up your nose the instance you open the pot. When applied to the skin it leaves a delicate fragrance that last the whole day, and I woke up in the morning to find my sheets softly imbued with rose essence.

The cream feels velvety to touch and sinks instantly into the skin, with no greasy residue. The face feels instantly softer and I like the way that it reduces the feelings of tightness in a vigorously exfoliated face. It works well for daily use, and I also like using it as a night cream, by applying a slightly thicker layer in the evening.

Product Review: Charles Worthington Sensitive shampoo and conditioner

charles-worthington-sensitive-shampoo.jpgLike many people I know, I seem to become more sensitive to chemicals as I get older. While I'd merrily slap on every potion claiming to work wonders on my hair in my early twenties, I'm now pretty careful about what I put on my body and several brands of shampoo are blacklisted as I know they'll 'set me off'.

Charles Worthington's new sensitive range is geared towards people with these sort of issues, and I was curious to know if it would work as well as their other products. Read on over the jump for my verdict.

Product Review: Ginerva's Green Tea Zit Treatment Gel

Green Gel.JPG

There are many spot creams in the world, and due to unhelpful skin I've tried a fair amount of them. After a recent flare up I was pretty desperate and turned to Ginerva's Green Tea Zit Treatment Gel to help me out. I've already been impressed with the Ginerva range as I've previously tried their Marvel Gel, and was hoping the gel would be just as good.

It comes packaged in a slim light green tube with a fine pointed tip. A small squeeze dispenses enough products to cover a few vital areas, so you don't feel like you waste product with every squeeze. The gel is semi clear and slightly cool to apply, and disappears within a few minutes.

Product Review: MADARA tinted sunkissed lipbalm gloss

madara-lip-gloss.jpgWe love MADARA round here: all products we've tested so far from the award-winning, eco-friendly range have been instant hits, as they're both a joy to look at and a joy to wear. So I was almost scared about trying their lip gloss, which had an awful lot to live up to. I'm not a bit lip gloss fan in general, and have not yet found one I want to wear enough to stop it getting lost in the depths of my handbag. In fact, I should probably have a special pocket installed for discarded lip glosses I didn't like...

But I need not have worried: MADARA's new lipcare range more than lives up to the quality of previous products, and is going to be essential wear for the summer. I tried the 'Sunkissed' shade of Deco Lips tinting lipgloss baume, which is in fact a reformulated version of MADARA's earlier ecolips product: a balm/tint I loved, but I much prefer the easy-squeeze application and free flowing consistency of the new formula.

The colour is ideal for summer; a subtle, bronzy tint that gives lips light tone and warm gloss without the tacky, jelly-like glaze that many of us associate with lip gloss. I found it blended in perfectly with my natural lip colour, while enhancing their hue. It smells divine with a sweet citrussy note, and being made from all natural ingredients selected for their nourishing properties, really helps keep the lips looking well conditioned and kissable!

The new lip glosses and two new lip balms will be available from 11th April at the RRP of £9.90. Available from online stores including soorganic.com and Naturisimo.com, Selfridges and selected outlets.

Product Review: Elemis pro-collagen body serum

elemis-pro-collagen-body.jpgI'm not a big fan of 'firming' products as a general rule, and prefer gentler solutions to my advancing years. I'm going to make an exception, however, for Elemis' pro collagen serum, which has a mild firming effect that's instantly visible on the body.

The serum is powered by 'micro lattice technology', which has an invisible 'body stocking' effect, restoring firmness and working wonders on lax, slackened skin (it's a godsend for those with bingo-wings). It also provides an instant uplift to buttocks and the tummy area: a great confidence (and body) boost to use before going out!

If you're also an Elemis fan, you may be interested to hear that the much-loved skincare brand is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
